SEEDS

SEEDS

Oaks, elms and aspens
Flowers, grass and weeds
Thriving in light and warmth
All starting out as seeds
All achieving identities
By virtue of their fruits
All tempered from a source
Encoded in hidden roots

Princes, paupers and presidents
Prostitutes, pimps and queens
Flora/fauna’s finale
Fruit of human seeds
As every meter ever measure
Is part of someone’s mile
Every man and every woman
Once was someone’s child

And we who plow the fields –
What good is there to say?
When thousand of children worldwide
Die from hunger every day
If we could kill hatred, war and greed
Perhaps our children would not bleed
And we could meet their modern needs
By teaching our seeds to read

Instead, we mortgage the future
And dishonor the past
We condemn our seeds to
A wasteland, terribly dry and vast
Until one day our seeds gaze upon
Mountains of dust in Oregon
And swirling dunes of hostile sand
Were once ran the River Amazon

In the garden of Humanity
Our children are the Fruit
Our teachings are the nourishment
Our heritage is our roots
Wee need to be more positive
Stop complaining about the weeds
Just mind the field your plowing
And love your precious seeds
